I remember, when I was pregnant with my children, the 5th baby labour/labor was the easiest of all.

In all transparency, my baby all but ended up on the floor during labour for my 5th child. He slid out effortlessly. Yes, it still hurt. I was still extremely nervous for the health of my baby. But this time, my body worked with me as if it had memorized the routine.

However, carrying a baby for 9 months became increasingly difficult, as I moved through the pregnancies of each of my 5 children. Nine months felt longer and longer. In fact, I’m not even sure I made it to the labour day with any of my children, much less the last one. Induction was always my go-to.

Life is like this–in anticipation of a new goal reached, a new milestone completed, we mature. Unfortunately, being familiar with the road ahead doesn’t necessarily make us feel better.

I don’t know anyone who looks forward to labor.

In order to “deliver our baby,” we can’t skip the process of working extra hard up to the point we finally birth the “finished product.”

Pregnancy and labor can be lonely

We can’t forget the loneliness inherent in carrying our baby alone for 9 months when only we know what’s truly going on with our body.

No amount of empathy can take away the stages of growth, or alleviate the mounting pressure inside you.

Just when you think you can’t take one more step, like the whole world has abandoned you. You realize. There’s no turning back. The dam breaks. This is the point of no return. Nature is taking its course.

Our faith may be shaken, but our dreams will eventually be born

You have no choice but to hold on for dear life, with shaking faith that your body knows just what to do.

When it’s time to deliver your dreams, naturally or by C-section, the final day of labor will arrive and your eyes will hardly believe the miracle before you.

Yes, it’s your choice whether you want to take the journey again.
