Women Empowerment | Second Hand Identity | Poem Background
Women empowerment is a robust subject. Inherently powerful, women often give their power away. This poem about women empowerment describes how women often have multiple identities to fulfill the expectations of what everyone believes they should be. The aim of the poetry is to defy the expectation that we appear neat, tidy, and well put together. Women do not need to fit into a box. We are a beautiful blend of many colors. Whether our life painting turns out to be abstract or reminiscent of an English countryside, we should love and accept ourselves–not simply as the rib of a man.
Meditation for women empowerment
It is o.k. if I don’t align to the expectations of others. Understanding I’m wholly unique, I completely accept who I am on any given day. Empowered to step into my light, I forgive myself for living in the shadows. I am not afraid of offending others or blinding them with the bright light of my unique soul beauty. My actions reflect my unapologetic self-acceptance. Rules do not define me. I use my mind as a tool for advancement. My intelligence can be trusted.
Poem
Second Hand Identity
Our personality mustn’t be ordered
Nothing demands we’re true
Colors blending
Jagged alone
Abstract
Insisting on what we’ve seen
Appearing messy
Shiny pristine
Words arranged predictable
Tossed about
Offensive despicable
There’s you
Waiting to be found
Seeking to hide
By games
We are bound
Demon
You saw
Escaping its shell
Independent
Alpha
Burning
In hell
Flaming at home
Raising voices
Pain erupting
Evident
Choices
We must make
To take a side
Duty
Bowed down
To God
Then man
Just before
Giving birth
We’re but his rib
No identity
Second hand Earth.
